Hi Everyone . . . !
Our Starbucks venue finally got
its air conditioner fixed! It's a nice, cool place again to play chess
over the boards, as we meet every Wednesday evening at the Starbucks located at
1536 Kirker Pass Rd., Clayton, Calif., from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Come by
anytime this Wednesday evening, August 17, 2016, the earlier the better for the
best tables, more matches and some really nice company!
Our last session featured
interesting matches between Tony and Rich, and Mike T. and John S., with the
latter match remarkable in that a losing position turned into a terrific,
attacking winning position! I won't say who was who, just that it wasn't
Mike who suddenly found himself busy snatching defeat from the jaws of victory
. . . there may be a rematch sometime soon . . . . . . And the 3rd Sunday of the month is this coming Sunday, August 21, 2016, which means our club will be meeting once again for chess over the boards at the Panera Bread Restaurant on the corner of Bancroft Rd. and Treat Blvd. in Walnut Creek, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., and as usual come by anytime, the earlier the better!
