CHESS Wednesday Sept. 26th at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone . . . !

At least a dozen players enjoyed an evening of chess last Wednesday at Starbucks, located at 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., Clayton, Calif, where we meet again, as usual, this Wednesday evening, Sept. 26, 2018, from 5:30p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Come by anytime.  We welcome players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to masters!

Last week we welcomed our newest club player, Muneer, and we also welcomed back Aksmita and her family - long time no see . . . !  Also on hand were Ronald, Andrew, Austin, David, Justin, Austin, Tony T.,Mike T., Ann, and Rich K. . . . !

More rated Quads this Sunday, Sept. 30th, and next Sunday, October 7, 2018!

The venue will be either Carl's Jr., across the parking lot from Starbucks, or a place very near Starbucks . . . Let me know if you are sure to play on one or both of the Sundays!  3 rounds, Entry Fee $27; G/45;d5 and Game times no later than 12:00pm; 2:00p.m.; and 4:00 p.m. 

US Chess Federation membership required:  if not a member, or if renewing, go to www.uschess.org and click on join/renew and follow easy directions.

After receiving commitments by phone, email or in person, I will send a confirming email to all.

CHESS this Wednesday, Sept. 19th at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone . . . !

There's more fun, challenging chess over the boards as usual this Wednesday evening, September 19, 2018 at Starbucks, located at 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., Clayton, Calif., from 5;30 pm - 9:00 pm.  Come by anytime.  There are no dues, nor is there a purchase requirement (but it would be nice).  We welcome players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experts and masters and all in between!

At least 11 players enjoyed the evening last week, and at least 10 players enjoyed the afternoon at Panera Bread yesterday, when a couple new players came by to add to the fun!

Re Quads:  Although we already have held one successful rated Quad as mentioned last week, our next ones will have to be rescheduled to Sunday, September 30th and Sunday, October 7th.  The delay is due to the TD re-certification process needed for me per the USCF, regarding its newly minted 6th Edition of the Official Rules of Chess.  

So far, players who have expressed interest in competing in our club's rated Quads have been Tony, Chris B., Justin, Austin, Chris Th., John S., John H., Max, Andrew, Mike T., Primo, and Jackie, among a few others, an indication that we can have at least 3 rated Quads soon!

CHESS Sunday Sept. 16th at Panera Bread Restaurant !

Just a short note reminder that there's chess over the boards this Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Panera Bread Restaurant, located at the corner of Bancroft Rd. & Treat Blvd. in Walnut Creek, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.  Come by anytime!

CHESS Wednesday Sept. 5th at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone . . . !

 Summer may be winding down, and chess still is a happening every Wednesday evening from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Starbucks, located at 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., Clayton, Calif.  Come by anytime, the earlier the better for the best tables, more matches, and some very nice, interesting company!

Last week's session saw about a dozen players drop in for some fun, challenging chess.  Among those that were there were Ronald, Justin, Tony T., Pat, Jonathan, Mike T., Ann, John S. and . . . very long time no-see . . . Hossam!  It should be noted that John S. and Hossam were two of the original founders of the Contra Costa Chess Club some 14 years ago come this November!  A highlight of the evening was Ronald's successfully taking on some speed-game challenges wherein he gives opponents 5 minutes against his 1 . . . and in one instance against his 30 secs!

As players of all skills and ages do, come on by, get your game up, have fun, renew old friendships or simply make new ones!
