CHESS this Wednesday Jan. 4, 2017 at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone . . . !
There's lots of fun, challenging chess over the boards again at our usual Wednesday evening venue, Starbucks, located at 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., Clayton, Calif., from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Come by anytime, the earlier the better for the best tables, more games, and some really nice company!

Last week's session saw another fun chess crowd, featuring the return of Dmitri and Liliana and Kitty along with Bob C., Priya, Jonathan, Tony T., Chris B., Chris Th., Mike T., Rich K., and even a couple of young kids tried their hand at the grand old game.  A memorable highlight of the evening came around closing time, with Tony T. winning a game against chess master Rich K., with a position that was checkmate in two moves!!  Of course, Tony will be subject to an interview and possible replay of the game, with Rich possibly explaining how the heck his king got trapped!

[As usual for all our club sessions, all ages, all skill levels welcome, it's all free, from novice to master as even some players are tuning up for the upcoming 8th Annual Golden State Open at the Concord Crowne Plaza Hotel January 13 - 16 (Martin Luther King weekend).  7 rounds, with up to two byes permitted.  Let me know if you need info or details regarding the tournament, or google Continental Chess Tournaments, or go to chesstour.com or to enter (there are 7 sections) go to chessaction.com.  For a reduced entry fee, sign up by Jan. 11th.]
By the way, January 2017 marks our chess club's 11th Year Anniversary !!
See you soon,
